Lantern is built by Scout Learning Lab LLC. We’re a team of parents and engineers making Lantern, a screen-free AI tutor for reading, writing, and math, and the parent platform that keeps consent, control, and progress in a parent’s hands. Lantern ships broadly in 2027; the parent consent portal is live today.
What we make
A tutor on the desk, a platform for parents.
Lantern is a screen-free tutor that coaches out loud. It sits on a child’s desk and works from a real book, so there is no screen for the child. Parents use a web portal and a native iOS app to see progress and manage everything from consent to deletion.
We started with reading — the skill everything else stands on — and writing and math follow the same patient way: one child, one real book, one steady voice.
Consent first
Parents are in control from the start.
A parent creates the account and signs a real, typed-signature consent before a child ever reads with Lantern, and can see, export, or request deletion of their family’s data at any time. The COPPA Direct Notice and the full privacy, terms, and children’s-privacy notices are linked in the footer.
